Review: Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette

Here's my review of the Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette. This palette was a lovely surprise!

  • Colours: There are 88 of them in this palette! They're about the size of a 5c piece and as the name of the palette suggests, they're all shimmer shadows, which I love. Obviously, there are 88 shadows so the colour range is great- you can do pretty much any (shimmery) eye look from this palette alone. There is a great mix of cool and warm toned shades.
  • Pigmentation: highly pigmented, comparable to Urban Decay eyeshadows if I'm being honest.
  • Texture: smooth when applied but you do get a fair amount of shadow scattered around the pot as you're getting it on the applicator...
  • Application: I used the little dual ended sponge applicator that came with the palette (not great for precision, but it deposits the colour very well) and didn't have any problems with it- the shadows apply smoothly and blend out easily. Very little fallout, too.
  • Longevity: I used the UD Primer Potion under these and after 12 hours, they were still lovely. The colours had faded just a little bit and  blended in to each other a bit more, but I didn't mind with this look at all.
  • Cost: these are CHEAP! They retail for USD$19.95 but the Coastal Scents site has them on sale all the time AND they ship internationally. An absolutely great buy!
Verdict: a solid A
